Host:
Today, we are joined by Astrologer Sapna Jain, who looks at astrology not merely as a way of predicting the future, but as a means of understanding life circumstances and choosing the right direction.
There are so many questions that come to our minds when we talk about astrology.
Is our destiny already predetermined?
If everything is written in our horoscope, then what role do our decisions play?
Can remedies really change our lives? And
Can a horoscope help us understand important aspects of life such as marriage, career, finances, and parenthood?
Today, we will explore these questions by looking at astrology alongside practical thinking and the realities of modern life.
So, let us begin this special conversation and understand what a horoscope can indicate—and how our own choices can influence the way our lives unfold.
QUESTION 1: People say that everything is already written in destiny. Then why do we need an astrologer?
Answer: Look, if certain things are written in our destiny, that does not mean we just sit and let planets keep playing their tunes and do nothing. Astrology does not make decisions for your life. It helps you understand possibilities and timing.
Let me explain this with a simple example.
Suppose you have to reach a destination in a city you have never visited before. The destination is fixed—but why do you open Google Maps?
Because you want to know the route—where to go, where you may need to change direction, and where you might encounter difficulties.
For me, astrology works in much the same way.
A horoscope can help us understand what possibilities may exist, which periods may be challenging, and where opportunities may arise.
But choosing the path and walking on it ultimately depends on your actions and decisions.
So, I would say: Astrology does not claim to change destiny. It helps us understand destiny and move forward with greater awareness and direction.
QUESTION 2: People often say, “Do this remedy and you will get married.” Can simply performing a remedy really lead to marriage?
Answer: No, it would not be right to say that simply performing a remedy will guarantee marriage.
It is like putting petrol in your car. Just because the tank is full does not mean you will automatically reach your destination. You still have to know the route and drive.
A remedy may, according to astrological belief, help create more favourable circumstances, but the right timing, personal effort, and practical action are equally important.
A remedy can support you, but it cannot make decisions on your behalf.
QUESTION 3: If a person's horoscope shows no possibility of marriage, can any remedy change that situation?
Answer: First, it is important to understand that saying “there is no possibility of marriage in the horoscope” is not that simple.
Sometimes a marriage indication may be weak, there may be delays, or circumstances may create obstacles.
The purpose of a remedy is not to magically change everything. Rather, according to astrological belief, it is intended to reduce obstacles and help create more favourable circumstances.
Therefore, along with remedies, the right understanding, the right timing, and practical effort are also important.
QUESTION 4: If 36 out of 36 Gunas match, does that guarantee a happy married life?
Answer: No. Getting 36 out of 36 Gunas does not guarantee a happy married life.
In astrology, we do not look at Guna Milan alone. We also consider the 7th house, the 7th lord, Venus, Jupiter, the Moon, and the overall compatibility of both individuals.
First example: Suppose only 12 out of 36 Gunas match, but the 7th house and 7th lord are strong in both horoscopes, Venus and the Moon are well placed, some of the Doshas reducing score are getting cancelled, and the two individuals have good mental compatibility. One should not reject such proposal just because matching score is 12/36, you may be missing the best life partner.
Second example: On the other hand, suppose all 36 Gunas match, but the 7th house is heavily afflicted, the 7th lord is weak, or Venus is severely afflicted. In that case, it would not be appropriate to assume that the marriage will automatically be completely happy simply because all 36 Gunas match.
And in today's world, compatibility has become even more important.
Earlier, expectations from married life were different. Today, both men and women are educated and often place importance on career, lifestyle, financial independence, personal choices, and individual aspirations.
So, I would say: “Guna Milan gives us a numerical indication, but the complete horoscope helps us understand how compatible two individuals may actually be with each other.”
QUESTION 5: If someone has strong wealth combinations in their horoscope, why do some people still struggle financially despite working hard?
Answer: Having a wealth indication in a horoscope and remaining financially comfortable throughout life are two different things.
For example, if someone's 2nd and 11th houses are strong, there may be good opportunities for earning. But if the 12th house has a strong influence, the person may earn well but also spend significantly and struggle to accumulate savings.
And there is a very practical point here:
Money does not come only from hard work.
The right timing, the right opportunities, skills, and financial decisions are equally important.
So, I would say: “A horoscope may indicate potential, but converting that potential into income and wealth requires your own effort and sound decisions.”
QUESTION 6:
Should everyone choose their career strictly according to their horoscope?
Answer:
Not necessarily. I don't believe that everyone should choose a career simply by looking at their horoscope.
I see astrology as a tool that can provide career direction, not a tool that makes the final career decision.
For example, if the 10th house, its lord, and planets such as Mercury, Sun, or Mars show connections with a particular field, they may indicate a natural inclination or suitability towards that area.
But while choosing a career, it is equally important to consider education, skills, interests, personality, and market opportunities.
So, I would say: “A horoscope can provide direction, but the final career decision should be based on your interests, abilities, and practical realities.”
QUESTION 7: If the childbirth indications in someone's horoscope are weak, does that mean they will not have children?
Answer: No, having weak childbirth indications in a horoscope does not at all mean that a person will not have children.
In astrology, we do not look only at the 5th house. We also consider the 5th lord, Jupiter, the 7th house, planetary periods (Dasha), and transits (Gochar). Sometimes, weak indications may simply suggest a delay or some challenges in having children, rather than the absence of children.
Today, medical science offers several options, such as IVF and other fertility treatments, which can help many couples conceive. The right medical treatment and when to take it should always be decided by a qualified doctor.
But yes, astrology can surely help even medical science to know the best Dasha and transits and know potentially favourable periods.
In simple words, medical science provides the treatment and solutions, while astrology, as a belief-based perspective, may offer an additional view about timing and circumstances.
QUESTION 8: Is there anything in astrology that even an astrologer cannot change?
Answer: Sometimes, in life, we try very hard to change certain things—but there are situations that simply cannot be changed according to our wishes.
That is where astrology also has its limitations. Astrology does not claim that everything can be changed.
Think about the weather. We cannot change the weather, but by checking the forecast, we can certainly change the way we prepare for it.
In the same way, a horoscope may indicate certain circumstances that may not be entirely within our control. But by understanding them, we may be able to improve our timing, preparation, and decisions.
Therefore, for me, the role of an astrologer is not to perform a miracle and change everything, but to help a person understand what may be within their control and what they may need to prepare themselves for.
A horoscope may indicate the circumstances, but how we respond to those circumstances depends on our actions and decisions.
QUESTION 9: What is the relationship between astrology and free will? Can a person change their destiny through their decisions?
Answer: I would explain it with a simple example.
Imagine that you have already booked a flight. Your destination is fixed, but you receive a weather forecast warning of bad weather along the route.
Now you have two choices.
You can simply say, “Whatever happens, will happen,” or you can prepare yourself, reconsider the timing, or make an alternative plan.
I see astrology in a similar way. A horoscope may indicate certain circumstances and periods, but what you decide to do in those circumstances, how much effort you make, and which path you choose—that is your free will.
So, I believe: “Destiny may give us certain circumstances, but our decisions determine what we do with those circumstances.”
Closing Note
Host: After this conversation, perhaps the most important takeaway is that astrology is not simply about knowing what the future holds. It is about understanding the possibilities, recognising the challenges, and becoming more conscious of the choices we make along the way.
Astrologer Sapna Jain: Absolutely. I believe a horoscope should not create fear—it should create awareness. There may be things in life that are beyond our control, but there is always value in understanding our circumstances, preparing ourselves, and making wiser decisions. Astrology can offer a perspective, but ultimately, it is our awareness, actions, and choices that shape the way we move through life.
